New York

I’m of the belief that when you’re given the opportunity to go to New York (or anywhere for that matter) on a whim, you bloody well take it. No thinking, just say YES.

Last week my boss Pam called me with an unusual proposition…to dash over to the US and back in three days to shoot story for The Circle.  My lovely Producer Becky was to travel with me…this was Thursday and we left on Sunday. Mental.

We’d just returned from our, five places in five days ‘Dream team’ adventure which took us from Sydney to Wollongong to Canberra to Brisbane, to Cairns to Uluru doing live crosses for the show each day on Camels and beaches and standing in cold, blustery paddocks.  We thought our travelling was over for the year and like a movie cop a day away from retirement Becky said she was happy to be off planes for a couple of months and ready for some serious couch/family time…cue New York offer.

We crammed a LOT into three days, we shopped, we worked, we ate. I bought a wedding dress, ran into my favourite songwriter ever, Ben Folds in a diner and my ex-Fiancé on 6th Avenue (unbelievable timing…).

Clinque vending machine at JFK. F YES.

GASP could learn a thing or two from this NY shoe shop wall.

TINA!

New York is the City that never sleeps and neither did we and you know it’s a fast trip when you encounter the same flight crew on the way back home as on the way over.

I will never stop being grateful for the gigs that I get…TV is supremely unreliable for steady gigs (the good old days of contracts are OVER) but just when you are ready to seriously consider taking a temp administration job an offer like this comes up.

I’ve started blogging about planning our wedding… So as not to subject those who have NO interest whatsoever about nuptials and links and dresses and stories about mentally deficient bridal shop robots I have filed the posts under the creatively titled WEDDING heading at the top of the page.

Good.

Wow, you little jetsetter! Amazing :)
Running into your ex fiance? That’s just cray cray (as many of the Kardashians would say).
